The UCL Leaders 2021 is a two-day online conference organised by students from the UCL Polish Society. This year’s edition aims to tackle the impact of the global pandemic; to question how it altered our lives and where we are going next.
At the conference, we want to examine different views of the effects of Covid-19 on ecommerce, politics, the legal sector, business, gender equality and film. Our multidisciplinary panels invite you to learn from, and engage in, fruitful and active debates in an atmosphere of open-mindedness. The panels will be moderated by experts who will strive to approach the world’s most pressing issues in conversation with a selection of Poland’s foremost leaders in their respective fields.
In this year’s e-commerce panel, we want to discuss the redefining of customer experience through innovations, exploring the process by which much of our lives have shifted to the internet. By analysing the changes in political campaigning in the age of social media, we will discuss threats applicable to civic societies and democracies around the world. We will also consider the practice of law in the post-COVID age reality, analysing the possible revolution in the way people will engage with the legal system. The pro-choice movement which emerged in Poland in 2020 will be discussed through the lens of gender equality. Talking business, we will consider the pandemic as a possible catalyst for positive change; we will take a hard look at what to continue, or not to continue, doing after the pandemic. Finally, we invite you to an overview of the unexpected renaissance in Polish cinematography.
A key concept at UCL Leaders is interdisciplinarity. We see the entanglement of politics, economics, law, and culture as a fascinating web of relations which creates chances for new perspectives and opportunities. During the conference we want to demonstrate that this view is more relevant than ever before.
We therefore invite you to join us at this year’s UCL Leaders 2021 We will meet you right where you are, in the new normal!
